NICK "THE PHOENIX" BARNES
Muay Thai Trainer
Nick was born and raised in Rock Springs, Wyoming. He joined Pineda's Kenpo Karate at a young age and earned himself an Orange Belt by the age of 11.
Nick moved to San Diego in 2004 and attended Bonita Vista High School. During his high school years he participated in the sport of wrestling from his sophomore year to his senior year. During that time he achieved MVP awards from multiple tournaments and won the Metro/Mesa league his junior year. During his senior year he went on to win the Metro/ Mesa league, as well as the CIF Division-Two championship, which placed him in the Masters tournament. There he won runner-up loosing only by one point to the top contender in the 162-pound weight class, Ian Roye. This win placed him to participate in the state championships.
After Nick graduated from Bonita Vista High School in 2009, he continued learning combat sports by taking a Judo class (a modern Japanese martial art where the objective is to take down, immobilize or choke the opponent) at Southwestern College. Nick won the renowned "Rondori" tournament during his year there.
With a strong desire to further his knowledge in combat, he joined Undisputed Downtown. It was here that he learned skills in Muay Thai by instructor Nicolas Cebreros, earning his trunks after a mere few months of training. From there he joined the amateur MMA team, coached and led by Herman Terrado, where he learned proper cage tactics and skills in Jiu-Jitsu.
Nick’s current professional record is 10-1 and is an XFS 170 lb. Champion.
Nick was also a contestant on Bellator MMA's Fight Master which aired in 2013. Nick was ranked third overall.
